Antec EarthWatts 750 Watt ATX12v v2.3 Power Supply Reviews

Great Power Supply 3/18/2010
By Ajamison

Pros: Very sturdy, solid in design and the modular cabling makes managing a changing hardware configuration very easy.

I would recomend this to anyone looking for a good 750W power supply well worth the money.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Wish that it had more cable connections for PCIe and SATA devices. I imagine this is possible through purchase of a new modual cable but out of the box seems very limited. However due to the modular nature of this unit this can be corrected easily so no egg loss here.
Where to Buy

Good enough! 2/25/2010
By Jason

Pros: Computer boots on my first attempt without any sign of electrical fire.
Supposedly efficient and "green" which I guess will be good for my energy bill.
Somewhat modular.
Does not make the annoying wailing sounds that my Corsair TX650W did.

Cons: It's large. Some case manufacturers (ironically including Antec) now offer cases that allow you to draw in cool air from the bottom for the power supply, but the size of this power supply and the location of its fan prevent you from doing that, at least with my CM 690.

It did not come with screws. Most of us have plenty of case screws laying around but a new builder might have a problem with a PSU that comes with no screws.

Antec seems to have taken the shotgun approach when they were deciding which connectors should be permanently connected. BOTH the 4-pin ATX 12V and the 8-pin EPS 12V are permanently attached. There is a single strand of 3 molex connectors, of which I would use 0 if it weren't for the fact that my front fan happens not to be able to reach the motherboard, and finally, as someone else mentioned there are floppy power connectors here! What was the point of making this even partially modular if these connectors are permanently attached?

Other Thoughts: I hope this is the last of the 'cons' and that I use this PSU for a very long time and if that's the case I will gladly overlook the "cons" and buy another one for my next build!

Great PSU... not so modular 2/24/2010
By Matt

Pros: Good price
Plenty of connections
Top mounted fan (or bottom)
4 12v lines
Nice color

Cons: For a modular PSU it's not so modular. Has outdated connections built into the fixed wiring including floppy (seriously?) and molex which I don't need anymore and I would bet pretty soon most won't either.
Also scratches very easily (glossy black)
No visual or audio alerts like on my Enermax

Other Thoughts: I think all modular PSUs should come with only the 24 pin as a built in. The point is to reduce unused cables and with this one I have floppy, 4 pin MB (has an 8 pin built in as well) and 3 molex connections.

Also someone stated that it wasn't a 20+4 (said it was fixed) they are incorrect... mine can be split easily if need be not that most people would buy this PSU for a 20 pin MB.
